Preschool

The goal of the Westminster Presbyterian Preschool shall be to create an environment for preschoolers that will provide a variety of readiness activities. These activies will include:

• Social and interpersonal skills
• Self-help and intrapersonal skills
• Building self-image
• Academics
• Thinking, learning
• Nutrition

This environment will not only acknowledge that children develop and express themselves in different ways, but will also appreciate and allow for the expressions of the differences.

Westminster Preschool Mission

The mission of the preschool is to provide the community a Christian-values-oriented weekday program in an atmosphere that promotes equal learingin opportuinities without regard to race, religion, sex, creed, nationl origin and socio-economic status. We believe that all people are God's children, and all are the object of God's love and are welcome in all activities sponsored by Westminster.

All classes offered 2, 3, 4, or 5 days a week.

Early Bird

Time: 8-9

The early bird program is for parents who wish to drop their children off before 9 AM for preschool. The service is staffed by one teacher and will not exceed more than ten children at one time.

Pre-School: M-F 9-1

Stay and Play: 1-5:15

Academic and Bible Based

Holidays

Holidays are the same as observed by the Florence City Schools.

New Playground: In process of renovating the playground.

Enrichment Opportunities

Movement: This class is taught weekly for the 2, 3, 4 year olds. This is a 15 minute class that offers a wide variety of activities to develop large motor skills. The children use the parachute, bean bags, rhythm sticks, balls, etc.

Music: A music class is offered weekly for 2, 3, 4 year olds. This is a 15 minute class that offers the opportunity to develop language and music appreciation. Instruments will be added to classes that are developmentally ready.

Computer: This opportunity is offered weekly for 2, 3, 4 year olds. Time spend on the computer is determined by the child's development and the teacher. Age appopriate software is provided.

Gymnastics: Gymnastics will be offrered to children in the 3 and 4 year old classes on Thursdays from 1 - 1:30 PM. The cost is $7 per lesson due when tuition is paid. Parents need to pick up their child at 1:30 PM.

Chapel: Chapel is offered weekly for 2, 3, 4. This is a special time spent in the sanctuary with the Pastor for Bible stories, songs, and finger plays.
